Puppy Love

So let me begin by saying, yes I have been rather quiet lately. I went all the way to New York and ran a marathon in November. I got slammed at work for the Christmas planning period and I started training (again) for yet another marathon. Please don’t ask me why because I cannot explain to anybody who is remotely sane. Kidding, marathons are fun and addictive. At work I jokingly floated the idea of doing a fun run and everyone has jumped on it. So now I have company for the International Women’s Day Fun Run in March. Yes, this is a promotion… If you feel generous , please donate: https://fundraise.mater.org.au/fundraisers/ameliaspring

Yuki is my partner in crime. He has been with me for a very long time and knows everything about me. I fell in love with Yuki the minute I saw my little white potato… And I mean who wouldn’t?! Yuki walks down a street and makes most strangers on the street smile. He spreads joy. If you’ve ended up here you know too well that Yuki is the cutest, most intelligent dog in the world.

One of the best things about Yuki is he loves you as long as you provide walks, rubs and food. If you do all of these things, he might love you unconditionally. So let’s make Yuki something special!

I’ll give you a special recipe for your significant other of the furry kind… Here’s the recipe for turmeric and coconut puppy treats:

The Cookies

  • 2 cups wholemeal plain flour

  • 1 tsp ground turmeric

  • 2 tsp ground ginger

  • 1/4 cup shredded coconut

  • 1/4 cup rice bran oil

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 1/4 cup peanut butter

  • bonito flakes for sprinkling

To make the biscuits

  1. Pre-heat your oven to 160’C.* Prepare oven trays with a silpat mat or butter and baking paper.

  2. Place all ingredients in a bowl and mix with your hands until combined.

  3. Place dough onto a floured bench and roll until even thickness.

  4. Use a cutter to cut out shapes. I used a heart shaped cutter, to cut biscuits out.

  5. Transfer to baking tray. Sprinkle bonito flakes over the cookies (Yuki loves fish so this is very important).

  6. Bake for 30 minutes until lightly golden.

  7. Wait to cool before giving to puppy as a treat.

Final Thoughts

So Bake Squad season 2 is out and I’m literally dying to watch that. I am trying to not watch the whole thing straight away. I just rewatched season 1 and I am beyond ready for round 2. So let’s do that and talk about how cute my dog is.

Love from your flour child
